Thyroid is a formula that contains many of the nutrients necessary to form thyroid hormones. The thyroid gland needs supportive nutrients from food or supplements to act as raw ingredient precursors for its proper function. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) gives cells the message to synthesize Thyroxine. Thyroxine, known as T4, needs to be converted into active T3. Cortisol and insulin levels need to be controlled in order for this to happen successfully and precursors and coenzymes must also be available.
Thyroid includes L-tyrosine and iodine, which make up the backbone of the thyroid
hormones T4 and T3. The addition of zinc, selenium, vitamin A, and the botanical
guggulipid activate enzymes that enhance the conversion of T4 into the active T3. Vitamin A and zinc also help to make the body’s cells more sensitive and responsive to thyroid hormones. Turmeric, along with the antioxidant vitamins C and E and
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), provide a powerful combination that boost thyroid health by reducing free radical stress.
Ashwagandha has been examined in research studies for its stress-lowering effects, and has properties that relax the nervous system. Ashwagandha may also stimulate thyroid
activity indirectly: in studies using mice, supplementation for 20 days demonstrated an increase in serum T4 concentrations.
Dosage: Take 2-4 capsules daily with meals or as directed by your health care practitioner.
Contraindications: Consult with your health care practitioner before beginning Thyroid.
